Mode of nutrition where an organism depend directly or indirectly on green plants for nutrients.

Hetero → Others & Trophic → Nourishment

  • This occurs in non green plants, animals, bacteria and fungi.
  • They lack chlorophyll and hence cannot make their own food.
  • They are known as heterotrophs. (consumers)
