• (In history we find dates in BC (before Christ) and AD (anno Domini) which means in the year of Lord.)
• History is a two types prehistory and history

History is keeping information about the past to provide for the future. That's the theory.  

Now there's the famous Santayana quote: "Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it."

And another one with unknown (at least to me) origin: "History repeats itself because no one was listening the first time."
