what is holding together federation? if india is coming under holding together federation then why?

When a large country divides its power between constituents states and national government then it is called as holding together federation
eg:India
India shares power to states thats why it comes under holding together federation

India is an example of "Holding today federation". In a "holding together federation", power sharing is divided among "numerous social groups" to accommodate the diversity in the country. In this federation, the "central government" holds more power than the "state government". Other units  of the federation have "unequal powers". Some units have special power as in the case of "Jammu and Kashmir". Other examples of holding together federation are Spain , Belgium etc.
