It is the type of heterotrophic mode of nutrition, in which all the animals including humans obtain their nourishment by ingesting the whole food (solid foodor complex organic matter in the form of a plant or animal part) through the mouth or some similar structure by the process of ingestion. all vertebrates invertebratesetc follows this process. Its site of digestion is always inside the body, wether intracellularly or intercerlularly.further it is divided into three types :1) Herbivores (feed upon plants) 2) carnivores (eat flesh or other animals) 3) omnivores (feed upon both plants & animals)
