Homoiothermous is a group of living organisms which maintains their constant body temperature, without getting much affected by the external environmental temperature.

  • The body temperature is one of the most significant biological characteristics of a living organism.
  • Different groups of living organisms have different characteristics about their body temperature.
  • Similarly, there is a large group of living organisms which maintain their constant body temperature, regardless the temperature of the external environment. In simple words, the environmental temperature does not affect the body temperature of the homoiothermous group of living organisms.
  • For example, most of the mammals and birds, belongs to the homoiothermous group of living organisms.
