homologous series is a series of carbon compounds that have different numbers of carbon atoms but contain the same functional group. Forexample, methane, ethane, propane, butane, etc. are all part of the alkanehomologous series. The general formula of this series is CnH2n+2.

Yo!

Here's the answer!

A homologous series is a group of organic compounds having similar chemical properties in which the successive compounds differ by CH, group. They can be represented by the same general formula.

For example-

Alkane group:-

CH4 - (Methane )

C2H6 - (Ethane)

C3H8 - (Propane)

C4H10 - (Butane)

Hope that this helps you!
