CH3OH, C2H5OH AND C3H7OH belongs to the same homologous series.

you can find that all these has a difference of CH2 molecule. and also has the same functional group.

hope it helped.

if helped then please mark it brainliest:)

Homologous series

Explanation:

  • The compounds which have the same general formula, are called compounds belonging to the same homologous series.
  • Among the given list of compounds, the following compounds have the same general formula which is C_nH_{(2n+1)}OH
  1. C_nH_{(2n+1)}OH = C_2H_{(2(2)+1)}OH = C_2H_5OH
  2. C_nH_{(2n+1)}OH = C_1H_{(2(1)+1)}OH = CH_3OH
  3. C_nH_{(2n+1)}OH = C_3H_{(2(3)+1)}OH = C_3H_7OH
  • The above-given compounds are homologous series of alcohols as they possess the same general formula.
  • The functional group present in the given compounds are as follows:
  1. C_2H_5CHO - Aldehyde
  2. C_2H_5OH - Alcohol
  3. CH_3OH - Alcohol
  4. C_3H_7OH - Alcohol
  5. CH_3COOH - Carboxylic acid
