Huygens assumed that a body emits light in the form of waves.
According to him, each point source of light is a center of disturbance from which waves spread in all directions. The locus of all the particles of the medium vibrating in the same phase at a given instant is called the wavefront.

Hi friend,
Your answer:
Huygen's hypothesis or wave theory states that "every point on a wavefront of light is a source of wavelets which have the same speed as that of the original wave and all these wavelets which form the new wavefront."
Hope it helps!
