HUYGENS PRINCIPLE was given by Huygen Fresnel.
HUYGENS PRINCIPLE

1. All point on the primary wavefront act like a new source of a fresh wave front i.e called secondary wavelets.
(it travel in all direction with the speed of light in medium)
2.The surface which is in contact to these secondary wavefronts ,tangentially in its direction at any time and place then it gives the fresh wavefront(secondary wavefront) .
hence huygen principle can be used to explain the phenomena of reflection and refraction of light on the basis of wave theory.
