{\boxed{\green{\bold{Hybridisation}}}}

It is a theory which includes the concept of shape of a molecule......

Explanation;

  • According to this theory, the atomic orbitals of the central atom mixed together to gives raise to the hybrid orbitals
  • The inter mixing only takes places between the orbitals to same or nearly same energy
  • The name hybrid orbital is named from it's parent orbits... For example let the s orbit and 2 p orbitals mixed then the name of hybrid orbitals will be sp²
  • Note ;- The number of inter mixing orbitals are equal to the number of hybrid orbitals

Importance Of Hybridisation

  1. It was able to tell the molecular shape
  2. It was able to overcome the limitations of the Valence Bond Theory (VBT)
