Answer:

Hybridization:-

Hybridization can be defined as the process of Intermixing of atomic orbitals of slightly different energies .

➞ So as to redistribute their energies resulting in the formation of new set of orbitals of equivalent energies and shape.

Eg:- Becl2

  • The two sp hybrid orbitals of Be get separated by angle 180° .

  • The shape of Becl2 molecule is linear.

Answer:

Hybridization is the idea that atomic orbitals fuse to form newly hybridized orbitals, which in turn, influences molecular geometry and bonding properties. Hybridization is also an expansion of the valence bond theory.
