simplest organic compounds which contain only carbon and hydrogen are called hydrocarbons.they are straight-chain, branched chain, or cyclic molecules.

straight chain includes- alkanes alkenes and alkynes

branched chain : 2-methylbutane,2,2-dimethylpropane etc.. are eg.s

cyclic : alicyclic and aromatic compounds
