1. Alkanes- they contain single bonds. They are called saturated hydrocarbons. Eg: methane, ethane, propane, butane.
2. Alkenes- these contain at least one double bond. They are called unsaturated hydrocarbons. Eg: propene, butene, ethene.
3. Alkynes- they contain atleast one triple bond. They are unsaturated hydrocarbons. Eg: propyne, butyne, ethyne.
