  • A hydrogen bond is the electromagnetic attraction between polar molecules in which hydrogen is bound to a larger atom, such as oxygen or nitrogen. This is not a sharing of electrons, as in a covalent bond. Instead, this is an attraction between the positive and negative poles of charged atoms.

Answer:

Hydrogen bond :

The attractive force which experience hydrogen atom of one molecule with electronegative atom of another molecules is known as hydrogen bond or hydrogen bonding .

Here mostly three element seems to form hydrogen bond.

They are Florine , Oxygen and Nitrogen .

Example of Hydrogen bonding are:

HF , H₂O , NH₃ .

Hydrogen bond are of two types:

Intermolecular Hydrogen bond :

The bond formed between two different molecules of the same molecule.

e.g. HF

Intramolecular Hydrogen bond :

The bond formed between H-atom and highly electronegative atom present in the same molecule.

e.g.  o- nitrophenol.
