The following equation shows hydrogenation of ethene to ethane.

@ Hydrogenation in simple terms can be defined as addition of hydrogen. it is a processs in which unsaturated compound react with hydrogen in presence of nickel as catalyst to form unsaturated compound.

HYDROGENATION IS THE PROCESS OF ADDING HYDROGEN ATOM TO UNSATURATED HYDROCARBON TO MAKE IT SATURATED IS KNOWN AS HYDROGENATION..

FOR EXAMPLE:-
H2
CH2 -- CH2 -------- CH3--CH3. [ WHERE ----- IT IS DOUBLE BOND]>

HERE,

UNSATURATED HYDROCARBON ETHENE BECOMES SATURATED BECAUSE HYDROGEN ATOM IS ADDED TO IT.. SO IT IS A EXAMPLE OF HYDROGENATION PROCESS...

HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU.. :-)
