The addition of hydrogen to unsaturated carbon in the presence of catylst like pladdium,platinum,nichel etc.to give saturated Hydrocarbon is called Hydrogenation.

DEFINITION:-

when unsaturated compounds reacted with hydrogen in the presence of catalyst such as nickel , it forms saturated compounds  . this process is called hydrogenation.

REACTION:-

ethene + hydrogen === ethane

C2H4+ H2 ===== C2H6

APPLICATION :- is used to convert vegetables oils in to animal fat.
