Hydrolith is prepared when calcium reacts with hydrogen at high temperature upto 300 - 400 C to produce calcium hydride. The reaction is as follows:
C a + H 2 → 300 o C - 400 o C C a H 2.
Hydrolith is used as dessicant or the dehydrating agent.

Answer:
Hydrolith is a saltlike binary compound (CaH2) used as a reducing agent and source of hydrogen.
In the laboratory, H2 is usually prepared by the reaction of acids on metals such as zinc with Kipp's apparatus. The electrolysis of water is a simple method of producing hydrogen. A low voltage current is run through the water, and gaseous oxygen forms at the anode while gaseous hydrogen forms at the cathode.
