Hydrostatic Paradox. Hydrostatic Paradox. Thehydrostatic paradox arises from our failure to accept, at first sight, the conclusion published by Blaise Pascal in 1663: the pressure at a certain level in a fluid is proportional to the vertical distance to the surface of the liquid.

✿ We Have , P = p g h
✍ Where , P is the liquid pressure at a depth h from the free surface .
✍ p is the density of the liquid .
✍ g is the acceleration due to gravity .
✿ From the above equation it is found that the liquid pressure is same at all points at same depth .
✍ Consider three vessels A B and C of different shapes as shown in the above Diagram. They are connected at the bottom by a horizontal pipe .
✍ When the vessels are filled with water, They hold different amounts of water but the level is same . The pressure does not depend on the cross sectional area or shape of the container .
✍ Therefore the pressure at the bottom of all the vessels is same,This is called Hydrostatic Paradox .
