It's a defect of an eye on which person is not able to see nearby objects though he can see far objects clearly. It is also known as far sightedness.
In this defect the light rays from the nearby objects are focused at a point behind the retina..
It can be corrected by using convex of appropriate value..

A person suffering from hypermetropia can see the distant object clearly but cannot see the near by objects clearly.
It can be corrected by making eye lens more convergent. This is done by placing a convex lens of suitable focal length before the eyelens
