Hypermetropia, sometimes called hyperopia, is the term used to define being longsighted. If you are hypermetropic, the image of a nearby object is formed behind the retina. This means that light is focused too far back in the eye, causing things which are close up to appear blurred.

Hypermetropia is a type of visionary defect. People suffering with this type of vision defect can't see the nearby objects clearly. This is acommon defect in elderly people. In this kind of defect the image is formed above the retina. This defect can be cleared by using biconvex lens. Eye power of the people with this type of defect is always positive.
