Hypotonic Solution:

If the medium surrounding the cell has a higher water concentration than the cell, i.e., if the solution is very dilute solution, then the cell will gain water by osmosis. Such dilute solution is called Hypotonic solution.

hypothesis :

A hypothesis is a suggested solution for an unexplained occurrence that does not fit into current accepted scientific theory. The basic idea of a hypothesis is that there is no pre-determined outcome.

Hypotonic solution : The solution in which the water concentration in the cell is more than that in the surrounding medium is hypotonic solution. Cell looses water by exosmosis and shrinks.

Hypothesis: Water will flow into cells when placed in a hypotonic solution; water will. flow out of cells when place in hypertonic solution.
