Well an ideal gas is matter which identically obeys all the gas laws proposed by chemists , the laws being
namely, Charles, Boyle's , Avogadro's and Gay Lussac's Law.
Often in real life we have gases which do not obey these rules all at the same time completely and hence a new theory of statistical mechanics for study of extensive nature of real gases has become very important.
