                        Extra Information

The temperature at which a particular substance catches fire in the presence of air is called its ignition temperature. the ignition temperature of patrol is lower than kerosene, since patrol can more easily vaporise and catches fire. The ignition temperature of white phosphorous is 35⁰ C. It catch fire on slight warming, hence it is kept immersed in water.

Smaller piece of a combustible substance catches fire more easily compared with a larger piece. The reason is that when a bigger piece of wood is cut into smaller pieces, new surfaces are created out of the same volume of material.
