Immunisation is the protection of individuals from communicable diseases by administration of a suspension of dead micro-organisms. This is the stimulation of immune system in the body to produce memory cells which further can detect disease causing pathogens and immediately eliminate them before causing the disease.

Immunization is the process by which the body is protected from infectious agents through vaccination.

On administration of vaccine the body produces antibodies. Information about the infectious agent, amount of antibodies produced, etc is stored in the memory cells of the immune system.

Hence, on further exposure to the same infectious agent, a heightened immune response is created in the body .

This is the principle behind immunisation.
