Immunity is the ability of the host to fight against disease causing organism - conferring by the immune system.

there are two types of immunity :-

  • innate immunity
  • Acquired immunity

a) innate immunity :- it is non- specific type of defence, it is present at the time of birth and providing different types of barrier to the entry of the foreign agent into our body.

b) Acquired immunity :- it is pathogen specific. it is characterised by memory. it means that our body when it encounters a pathogen for the first time produces a response called primary response.
