The process of giving a vaccine to a person or patient to prevent diseases is known as Immunization.

  • Immunization protects a person from getting diseases.
  • The vaccines given to a person produce immunity towards a specific disease.
  • Immunization protects a person against diseases or illnesses caused by infections with micro-organisms.
  • Example of diseases that have vaccines are:- Smallpox and measles and some other diseases.

How Immunity is developed in the body?

Immunity is developed in the body by injecting vaccine. The vaccine stimulates the body's own system and it protects the person against any specific disease or infection.

Example:

If the person has taken the vaccine to prevent smallpox then the vaccines produce immunity towards smallpox and the person will not suffer from it.
