However our actions as humans have caused depletion of the ozone layer . excess of carbon di oxide and methane causes a hole in the ozone layer near the poles . this causes the sun rays to melt the ice and increase the water level , which results in floods . it can also cause mutation in plants and decrease in productivity of fishes .
