Impulse is the integral of force, that is, the force multiplied with time. Force (F) in a time interval 't' which acts on it. Since force is a vector quantity, impulse is also a vector quantity. The impulse applied to an object, produces an equivalent vector change in the linear momentum and also the same direction.

Hope it helps :)
