INDUCTIVE EFFECT. The polarization of a σ bond due to electron withdrawing or electron donating effect of adjacent groups or atoms is called inductive effect. Salient features of inductive effect. * It arises due to electronegativity difference between two atoms forming a sigma bond.
Hope this helps you friend

the inductive effect is an experimentally observed effect of the transmission of unequal sharing of the bonding electron through a chain of atoms in a molecule, leading to a permanent dipole in a bond. It is present in a σ bond as opposed to electromeric effect which is present on a π bond. hope it helps you
