Indus Valley civilization refers to an ancient civilization dating back to about 2500 to 1500 BC. The civilization flourished along the Indus River valley and was located in what is known today as Pakistan and northwest India.
Extensive archaeological excavations have been done at the sites of Mohenjo-Daro located on the lower Indus, and at Harappa found upstream. Findings suggest that they had a highly developed city. There social status is reported to have been more superior to contemporary Egyptians and Babylonians. The city enjoyed a very advanced urbanization system.
The Indus people had a writing system that is still very difficult to decipher. And this is one of the reasons that details about the Indus military campaign, battles rulers and more, remain not only mysterious but also inconclusive.
