Inertia of motion is that inherit property of an object by virtue of which it opposes the change in its state of motion . It can easily be said as resistance to stop .
According to Galileo Galilei , every object tries to be in its position of rest or uniform motion until and unless an external force is applied on it. This property of the object is called inertia and the law given was called Law of inertia .
There are other two types of inertia :
• Inertia of rest : The inherit property of an object by virtue of which it opposes change in its state of rest . It can be said as resistance to move .
• Inertia of direction: The inherit property of an object by virtue of which it opposes change in its direction of motion . It can be said as resistance to change direction .
Later , this law was renamed as Newton's first law of motion.
