inertia is the tendency of an object to retain its motion.there are three types of inertia:-
inertia of rest
inertia of motion
inertia of direction.

inertia is the resistance of a body to maintain its state of rest or state of motion . like , if u are sitting in a bus and bus start suddenly , u fall backwards , because ur lower body (part below waist ) gets into inertia of motion but ur upper body (part above waist) tends to remain in rest and thus makes u fall backwards



mass is the measure of inertia as more the mass , more inertia or resistance to a force an object would possess

a car has less inertia if compared to inertia of a truck
