Hey There Friend!!!

Inertia is a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force.

It is sometimes called the law of inertia because part of newton's law is that an object at rest stays at rest, and then inertia is an object's reluctance to move. Your back presses against the car because of inertia you do not move right away.

Hope This Helps!!!
