gerunds are the verbs which act as nouns in sentence such as 1)swimming is my hobby
here if u ask the question (what ) to the rest of the sentence as what is my hobby u will get the answer
infinitives are very easy to identify
they start from to
eg:- I like to play with the ball

A gerund is a noun made from a verb by adding "-ing." Infinitives are the "to" form of the verb. ... Infinitives are often used when actions are unreal, abstract, or future: "He wants to swim." Sometimes the use of a gerund or an infinitive can change the meaning of a sentence.

I hope this is correct and helps you!!!
