What is Ingestion, Digestion, Absorption and Assimilation?

ingestion is intake of food which includes mastication(means chewing it and mixing chewed food with saliva).it kicks the digestion process.
Digestion mainly occurs at stomach(specially for carbohydrates) several enzymes works together for breaking down of carbohydrates chains into smaller parts.
Absorbtion is done in intestines. most of the of digested products are absorbed at small intestine(by villi) and some water are absorbed by large intestine.

Assimition is the utilisation of absorbed carbohydrate,proteins,minerals etc. by cells of our body for there functioning,development,repairing etc.

The process of converting or breaking down complex food into simple and soluble forms is called digestion.

3 Absorption ;
The process by which the digested nutrients are taken to different parts of the body ( through blood ) is called absorption.

4 Assimilation ;
The process of using absorbed food molecules for producing energy and growth.
