The amount of solar energy which is received by the Sun is known as insolation. The Sun's energy reaches the Earth as short waves. It is on the basis of insolation that the Earth is divided into various heat zones. Differences of insolation on earth, causes our weather and regulates our climate.

Insolation affects temperature. The more the insolation, the higher the temperature. Thus understanding insolation (the amount of energy that hits an area) is important in maximizing the output of solar panels which absorb and convert this energy
