A point may also be referred to as an 'event' (nothing to do with the literal meaning of the word event). Basically, if you include time as a dimension, the 'point' turns to an 'event' and we describe where (usually requires 3 dimensions) and when (time, the fourth dimension).

decrease the exposed surface area could also lower heat transfer , but this quality is usually fixed by the geometry of the object to ne insulated.
