The collection of natural, negative numbers as well as 0 are known as ‘Integers’.

More:

  • It is denoted by Z universally.
  • Examples include: - 4, - 9, 100, etc.
  • Remember that integers are rational numbers.
  • There are two broad categories of number systems: real number (rational & irrational numbers, integers, whole numbers, natural numbers) & unreal numbers (complex numbers, imaginary numbers).
  • Complex numbers are those which have a real and an unreal part. Example: 9 + 4i where i = \sqrt{-1} . These are in form of \pm a \pm bi (i - iota).
  • Imaginary numbers are those which are in form of bi where b is a real number and i = \sqrt{-1} .
