Intensive farming uses large amounts of labor and resources as they relate to land area by applying fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation systems to achieve a profit. As of August 2014, intensive farming uses high-tech machinery to grow crops and raise livestock.

Under intensive agriculture, the per hectare yield is high.Farmers apply modern inputs like fertilizers, high yielding varieties of seeds etc. to obtain high yield .Farmers have small land holdings. More than one crop is grown in the same field which puts enormous pressure on land. Intensive agriculture is a labor intensive farming.
This type of agriculture is practised in Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal etc.
This type of agriculture is not environmental friendly as over use of fertilizers, pesticides degrade the soil
