Intercept theorem states that if a line segment divides two or more parallel lines into equal parts, then any other transversal passing through the parallel will also divided into equal parts.


In the figure, lines l, m and n are parallel to each other. They divide line segment AB into equal parts i.e. PQ and QR. Another line segment CD will also be divided into equal parts i.e. LM and MN according to this intercept theorem.
