Inter-sensory associations are also called multi-sensory or cross-modal integration. This integration takes place in the association cortices in the brain.

EXPLANATIO:

The inter-sensory association basically helps in cognition. Inter-sensory association usually takes place when a sensory input is obtained. For instance, when a person receives an auditory and visual input, the inter-sensory association between the auditory and visual inputs takes place that help the person to understand both these inputs and produce an output.
