ionic bond is made up of positive and negative charges because of the presence of these two charges they have high melting and boiling points but they are they are found in crystalline form

Anonymous: it is also because of high intermolecular attraction between its molecules

The chemical bond formed by the transfer of the electrons from one atom to another is known as an ionic bond. An ionic bond is formed when one of the atoms can donate electrons to achieve the inert gas electron configuration and the other atom needs electrons to achieve the inert gas configuration. Ionic compounds have high melting points because the ionic compound are made up of positive and negative ion. There is strong force of attraction between the oppositely charged ions, so a lot of heat energy is required to break this force of attraction and melt the ionic compound. Due to this ionic compounds have high melting points.
