what is ionic compounds? why melting point of ionic compound are more than covalent compound?----------- answer fast it's urgent

the compounds containing ionic bonds are known as ionic compounds.they are made up of cations and anions..
the ionic compounds are made up of positive and negative ions. there is strong force of attraction between the oppositely charged ions,so a lot of heat energy is required to break this force of attraction and melt the ionic compound .due to this ionic compound s have high melting points

ionic compounds are compounds which bonded with ionic bonds. they have a high melting point because they have a strong electrostatic force between their molecules whereas covalent bond have a sharing of electron i.e. why they are less strongly bonded
