What is ionisation and ionisation potential?

Ionisation energy is the minimum energy required to remove an electron from isolated neutral gaseous atom . and Ionisation potential means the maximum energy a electron can take with out being removed.

  • ionization enthalpy of an element is defined as  the amount of energy required to remove "the most loosely" electron from the outermostmost shell of it's isolated gaseous atom in the ground statelogens(Cl,F,Br etc.) and least for metals especially alkali metals (lithium,sodium,potassium etc..)
