Ionosphere
- The ionosphere is the ionized component of Earth's upper atmosphere, ranging in altitude from around 48 km to 965 km, it includes the thermosphere as well as parts of both the mesosphere & exosphere. Solar radiation ionizes the ionosphere.
- The ionosphere is a sector of the Earth's stratosphere located among 80 and 600 km altitudes in which radiation from the sun of extremely ultraviolet (EUV) and x-ray wavelengths ionizes the individual atoms, generating an electron coating.
