Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of electronic devices connected to internet. A server communicates with the devices, monitors, controls, and manages them. Users can access the devices through IoT servers through applications.

IoT uses the 5G communications technologies which are still being developed. IoT requires fast processors in the servers and devices.

5G technology

5G technology is latest generation technology for wireless data communication. 5G deployment has been officially started all over the world by September 2019. 5G is going to be very different and unique as compare to older generations internet.

5G is not only for interconnecting different devices but also 5G will be used in every machine and device. 5G will deliver us a Gigabyte speed internet for our home as well as office works. 5G is going to enhance the mobile internet connection like a broadband service.

5G speed/performance

5G technology will use 6 gigahertz frequency for wireless data transferring. Because of which the speed of network will be increased by 200x than today's network speed. So, 'what exactly speed we will get in 5G technology ?'

We will see 5G speed up to a gigabit. That is, we will be able to use our internet at a speed of 5 - 6 Gigabit/second. That's roughly 343 Megabytes / second. And, in the 5G demonstration, ISP's have officially recorded this speed for mobile networks.

5G supporting devices:

As 5G data transferring speed through internet is a gigabit. So, we need a 5G supported processor to process this data. 'Qualcomn' a popular processor manufacturing company had successfully developed a processor that can easily handle 5G networks. Qualcomn recently launched Snapdragon 855 , 865 , 730G and X50 modem. This all processors supports 5G networks.

Not only Qualcomn, Samsung, Huawei, Apple have also successfully launched their 5G processors for latest phones. 5G supported phones will have 5G supported 7nm processor ; which don't make only our network speed but also our phone's processing speed.

How 5G works ?

Like 4G LTE, 5G is also OFDM-based which means 5G will use same 4G principles in phones for communication. Difference is that, 5G will just use higher frequency hertz bandwidth for data transfer. 5G will use all the principles for networking that 4G uses.

As 5G is also updated OFDM - based, so 5G is more secure than 4G and other generations internet. 5G will deliver Video calls without any buffering and internet like today's voice calls. Analogs signals representing sounds and images will be digitized inside the towers and service centers and will be converted into bits to make a communication.

5G is so fast and due to which the latencies of mobile networks have got decreased. 5G latency is going to be approximately 24 - 28 ms.

5G availability:

5G is so complex and uses 6GHz frequency bands. So, It will take a while to get available all over the world. It is expected to be 5G in every country and area till 2025. South Korea, China, USA, UK are countries which are using 5G internet nowadays.

China had became the first country to launch 5G services all over the country. And, today there are 34 Million 5G users in China. As expected, Every country will be using 5G networks in 2025.

5G Operators:

China - China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom

South Korea - SK Telecom and Korea Telecom

United Kingdom -  Vodafone UK, Three UK, and O2 UK

Germany - Vodafone and Deutsche

United states - AT&T and Verizon

India - Jio , Airtel , Vodafone (Work in progress)

5G in electricity:

5G is going to be extreme ! Not only in Phones and devices, 5G is going to be in electricity. i.e. we will be able to use 5G network directly through electricity. This concept is latest and proposed by Huawei, so 5G in electricity work is in progress.

Problem with 5G:

As 5G will be using 6GHz frequencies bandwidth for data communication, Chances are, this frequency hertz can be harmful for Birds. But, As per as World Health Organisation, 5G is not too much harmful ; So, it can be used for regular works.

Another problem with 5G is that, Suppose if you are standing on one side of road and 5G tower is at another side of road and between your device and tower, there are some trees or houses, then you will get low speed using 5G at this condition. Whereas, if you are standing at a place such that, there is nothing between your phone and tower, then you will receive high internet speeds.

Benefits of using 5G:

- 5G is faster as compare to other generations network. So, we should be using 5G.

- 5G is more secure than 4G. So, due to high network security, we should be using 5G.

- No buffering ! , No Data Caps ! are also the reasons, that we should be using 5G network.

5G in India:

Airtel has successfully tested 5G trial in India on 23rd September 2019. As a manufacturer of Airtel, Huawei will support Airtel to conduct and provide 5G network in India. Chances are, Airtel will become first Indian ISP to bring out 5G in India.

Jio is also working on 5G and it is expected to have 5G internet connection in all over the India by 2023. Before that, all metro-politician cities will receive 5G.
