what is ironical about one of the commoners saying about Brutus "let him be Caesar"?

When Brutus gives the reason for the assassination of Caesar,the mob wants him to be their ruler.
It is ironic as Caesar was true to them and Brutus false.They want him to be in charge and control,hiding the fact that he was the one who killed the real controller,who was true to heart.
