Tripitakas

Buddha did not reduce the principle of his religion to writing. After his death, his disciples summoned a Buddhist council at rajgriha and divided Buddha's teaching into three pitakas (Bastkets) i.e Sutta pitaka, wherein Budha's sermons and activities were compiled.

The, Vinaya Pataka which content the rules of conduct to be followed by the Buddhist monks and nuns.

The, Abhidhamma pitaka that contain the philosophy of Buddhism.

These three pitakas were together known as Tripitakas.
