IST is Indian Standard Time. It is very necessary because the Indian states which are lying at different longitudes would obviously have different times. This would create a lot of confusion due to different timings in different parts of India.so to avoid this the standard meridian of India p


Devipvu2004: Passing through mirzapur is taken as the standard time for whole country.the local time of the longitude 82degree 30' is followed by the whole country.
