let us mark the points as given in the attachment

Given: ACEF is a rectangle

where, AC = EF = 6cm and AF = CE = 3cm

And, AB = 5cm, DE = 2cm

To find: Area of ABDEF

Now, AC = 6 cm

=> AB + BC = 6

=> 5 + BC = 6

=> BC = (6-5)cm = 1cm

Similarly, CD = 1cm

We know that the angles of rectangle = 90°

So, <C is right angled

By applying Pythagoras theorem:

BD² = BC² + CD²

=> BD² = 1 + 1

=> BC = √2 cm

Area of ABDEF = Area of ACEF - Area of ∆BCD

= 6 × 3 - 1/2 × 1 × 1

= 18 - 1/2

= 18 - 0.5

= 17.5 cm²
